ABOUT FIRE CUPPING
What is the difference between Transformational Cupping® and fire cupping?
Transformational Cupping® and fire cupping start from the same basic principle: you create a negative pressure in a cup, lifting the skin and underlying tissue. The why and how differ greatly and you feel it.
FIRE CUPPING: rest, warmth & recovery
With fire cupping, the body enters much more rest mode. The heat and constant vacuum activate the parasympathetic nervous system (rest & recovery), so people often find it more pleasant and even fall asleep. In the most common and well-known method of fire cupping, the cups are placed statically on the body and remain for several minutes. This gives a warm, wearing and relaxing feeling.
Optionally, you can also move the fire cups around the body, but this is not for everyone.
The method comes from traditional Chinese medicine, where it is used to stimulate energy (Qi) and blood flow and to pull “cold(s)” or “wind” out of the body. As a result, fire cupping is gentle, balancing and calming. It brings the body back into balance and relaxation.
TRANSFORMATIONAL CUPPING®: movement, awareness & transformation
In Transformational Cupping®, we work a little more actively. We move, open and loosen up. Not only on a physical level, but also in the deeper layers of the body and consciousness. The method combines cupping, manual therapy and deep body work to release adhesions, activate lymph and blood flow and make stored tension or emotions conscious. There is movement with the cups: sliding, lifting, twisting, often in combination with breathing and fascia techniques. As a result, the body responds more actively than with fire cupping. The process is “turned on” and the energy begins to flow. This can sometimes feel a bit intense or confrontational, but that is precisely where the transformation lies: in awakening the body and releasing what was stuck.
The experience: relaxation or activation
Fire cupping keeps the body in relaxation mode. Muscles relax, breathing deepens and the mind settles down.
Transformational Cupping® actually involves more awareness and action in the body. It is less likely to cause deep relaxation during the session, but often do feel a sense of freedom, space and lightness erna.
- Two powerful methods, each with its purpose
- Fire cupping: relaxation, recovery and balance.
Transformational Cupping®: opening, awareness and transformation. Both bring the body closer to itself one through rest, the other through movement.
Why is fire cupping a great addition to your practice?
Fire cupping works deeper into connective tissue, strengthens circulation and has an intense purifying effect. It is a wonderful addition for therapists who want to deepen their practice with more feeling, energy and precision.
Are there any other reactions and/or contra - indications?
The basic contraindications are the same (such as fever, skin problems, varicose veins, pregnancy ...). The difference is mainly in the intensity of the reaction.
